Regulatory Update: NEW Alzheimer's and Dementia Training Requirements
Grab your lunch and join the Illinois Homecare & Hospice Council for an overview of the new, mandatory Alzheimer's and related dementia training requirements recently implemented by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
All home health agencies, home nursing agencies, home services agencies and hospice programs will be required to:
- have a care plan for all clients/patients with an Alzheimer's disease or related dementias diagnosis implemented in accordance with nationally recognized standards of care;
- designate an Alzheimer's Services Supervisor with specific qualifications;
provide 6 hours of initial training for new staff; and
provide 3 hours of continued annual training for all staff.

Liz Vogt, IHHC Director of Government & Regulatory Affairs, and Katie Wehri, Director of Home Care & Hospice Regulatory Affairs for the National Association for Home Care & Hospice will give a detailed overview of these provisions which were signed into law by the President in October 2018 as part of the comprehensive opioids legislative package.
